How to Set Goals You Will Achieve

As I continue to work and make money online I am always struggling with setting goals for myself. I either make the mistake of not achieving my goal in the time I'm given or give up because it is too hard. I was sitting down at my desk trying to figure out how I can change this habit of stopping my goals. I know if I continue to do this I will convince myself that I am not achieving anything in this online world. I am writing this because I wanted to share how to really achieve an attainable goal.

The first thing I must stop doing is making goals that are nearly impossible to achieve. I know several people (myself included) try to set those BIG GOALS but never give themselves enough time to achieve them. They then stop going for it and move on to a different goal. I believe we can all achieve any goal that we put our minds to but the problem is we let time be a huge factor. We think to ourselves if we can't get this done in two weeks we will give up and never try to achieve it again.

Another problem that I think is holding me back is putting too much emphasis on the future. None of us live in the future or the past but we all put so much focus on them. We should try to set our goals that can help us in the present. From now on, I think it will be better for me if I set goals that will better my present state and not how it will help 5 or 6 years from now. If I focus on present goals it is a given that it will influence my future in some positive way.

The best advice that I learned from doing some reading about goal setting is that I should make them smaller. For example, say I want to write 10 articles everyday for 3 months. That will give me 900 articles if I stick with the goal and not stray away from it. But, the problem with doing so many everyday takes away from the content you put into it. Would you rather have 10 short, mediocre articles or 5 great, content filled, informative articles that will get picked up by the search engines in a day or two? I know that is a bit obvious the way I worded it but it still is true.

This is how I will start thinking about how I will achieve my goals. I feel that setting up goals like this will keep me motivated, working hard (and smart), and inspired to continue.
